Wednesday
4:30pm - 5:30pm During this Keynote Panel, both gentlemen will share their views on the future of information and data quality. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from two of the profession’s foremost minds, and join IAIDQ members as we recognize our two Founders. “To Be” or “Not to Be”: The Future of Information Quality Abstract: What will your organization be in five to ten years? “Leading-edge and market leader”? Or, maybe “still-around-and kicking”? Or will it be a “chapter-in-the-history-book”? Mr. English discusses the issues and drivers that enterprises must solve in the next five to ten years in order to survive. Will information Quality Management shape the future of business? He describes two scenarios of possible state of IQ in five to ten years.
Question: What Comes Next? Answer: Data and Information In the provocatively-titled “IT Doesn’t Matter” (Harvard Business Review, May, 2003), Nicholas Carr suggested that the days are now past when an organization could exploit IT for strategic advantage. Carr’s article ignited a firestorm of controversy that continues to this day. We will not join the debate here, but instead focus on a more important question: What comes next? We believe the answer is “Data and Information” and we’ll summarize our reasoning. We’ll introduce a model for a “three-phase Information Age” and discuss some ways that practitioners can advance data and information quality within their organizations.
