The US Patriot Act requires financial institutions to have an effective customer identification program such that the institution "knows its customers." Bank of America has leveraged the data quality program and Six Sigma methods to achieve compliance with these regulations. This case study will highlight the information quality principles based on Six Sigma methods and how they have been deployed as part of the anti-money laundering compliance program, lessons learned, best practices implemented as well as business purpose and results achieved.

Mr. Carlson leads a team focused on business process improvements using six sigma methods for the customer information program He has an engineering education and twenty five years experience in improving processes with the last seven years focused on improving business, data and information processes.
