IT spending on data quality initiatives does not necessarily guarantee sustenance in a long term. In reality, sustaining data quality and being effective with transparency for SOX and compliance requires a broader focus that cuts across functions and business units. Moving away from the traditional view and shadow of managing information to managing quality of information requires alignment with the producers and consumers of data. This presentation takes a practical approach on the subject of managing quality and sustenance by:

- Aligning it with Information and Application Governance
- Creating a linkage between data quality and systems development
- Establishing an ongoing process of quality management

Mahesh Haryu is a Senior Technology Manager at Altria Corporate Services, Inc., where he is responsible for strategy development and implementation of data management, governance and other application technology areas. Haryu has more than 16 years of experience in design, development and implementation of various engineering, IT systems and Data Management initiatives.
