The move to adopt Service Oriented Architecture to better align Business and IT Strategy is well underway. What is becoming more obvious is that an effective SOA Asset Reuse Management strategy is an integral part of transitioning an organization to SOA . This presentation highlights key technology trends and emerging metadata and SOA standards influencing SOA Development and Runtime registries and Repositories. The session will conclude with an overview of IBM's vision for Asset and Metadata Management across the development, deployment and operational aspects of the SOA Life cycle. Key topics covered include:
  • Importance of SOA and SOA Governance
  • Emerging standards in SOA Asset Based Development
  • Business Process of governing SOA design and development
  • Metadata management for SOA : What's different?
  • Development VS Runtime repositories : Usage scenarios
  • Where is the Industry headed? Where is IBM headed?
Sridhar Iyengar, an IBM Distinguished Engineer, leads the technical strategy for IBM Rational Software. Sridhar works with development teams and architects inside IBM and in the industry to accelerate the use of industry standard models, patterns and metadata for developing, integrating and managing applications. His work focuses on the use of models, metadata and transformation frameworks that can be used create an integrated software platform built using industry standards (J2EE, Web Services, MDA...) and the open source technologies (Eclipse, Apache...).

Sridhar holds several patents in the areas of modeling, metadata management and software integration. Sridhar led the definition of the initial MOF and XMI standards and their integration and use by UML and now the broader MDA suite of standards for software infrastructure as well as industry domain specific standards. Sridhar serves on the OMG Architecture Board and the OMG Board of Directors overseeing the evolution of MDA to better address the needs of architects, developers, testers and administrators that are served by the end to end tools supply chain.
