One of the hallmarks of a mature profession is the publication of a body of knowledge document. DAMA is developing a new book called "A Guide to the Data Management Body of Knowledge". The DMBOK© Guide will serve as a “definitive introduction” to data management goals, activities, deliverables, roles, principles, practices, technology and organizational/cultural issues. The audience for the DMBOK© Guide includes data management professionals, data stewards, academics and executives. The DMBOK Editorial Board is made up of experts and practitioners within DAMA International. Chief editor Mark Mosley and members of the DAMA Education Committee will review the status and progress of this effort. Early drafts will be made available to session attendees.

The DMBOK© Guide will include the following chapters:

2. Data Stewardship, Strategy and Governance
3. Data Architecture, Analysis and Design
4. Database Administration
5. Data Security Management
6. Metadata Management
7. Reference and Master Data Management
8. Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence

Mark Mosley is a Principal Consultant with EWSolutions. Mark is a long-time member of the DAMA Chicago chapter. He previously was enterprise data architect for CNA Surety Corp., director of data management for Kemper Insurance, director of software process improvement at CNA Insurance, director of software development for Rotary International, and a senior consultant with the IBM Consulting Group. Mark is serving as chief editor for the DMBOK© Guide.

Deborah Henderson is an Information Architect with CapGemini and is president of the DAMA Foundation. She also serves as VP of Educational Services for DAMA International.

Patricia Cupoli is a member of DAMA's Education Committe and servies as DAMA VP of Certifications. Pat is also President of the ICCP.

Dr. Anne Marie Smith is a member of the DAMA Education Committee, the VP of Operations for DAMA Foundation and the Governance and Ethics Officer for DAMA International. Anne Marie is Director of Education and a Principal Consultant with EWSolutions.
