April 27-May 1, 2003 – Renaissance Hotel, Orlando, Florida

ICCP CERTIFICATION TESTING

Symposium / Conference attendees have the opportunity to take the three exams required for a Certified Computing Professional (CCP) Certificate, or the one specialty exam, e.g. Data Resource Management Exam, for a Proficiency Certificate offered by the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP).

A presentation, ‘Data Management & ICCP Certification, is scheduled for Sunday, April 27, 2003 at 7:00 pm. It will provide an overview of the ICCP certification requirements, DAMA International’s involvement over the last 10 years, and the benefits of certification.

Available ICCP Exams

To satisfy the examination requirements for the CCP designation, a candidate must pass the CORE exam and any two Specialty exams. The exams to be offered at the conference are the:

  • CORE examination, which covers a range of topics, considered to be knowledge required of every information systems and information technology professional today. There are no specific educational or experience requirements that must be met in order to take this examination, but an examinee who does not have a broad background in systems and technology, from either formal education or range of experience, typically will find it difficult to pass.
  • Data Resource Management examination, which tests the candidate’s knowledge of the theory and professional practices associated with development and management of corporate-wide data resources at the conceptual, logical and physical levels. This examination is intended for senior Data Resource Management professionals who have practiced in progressively more responsible assignments. The exam does not contain questions that are specific to any particular vendor’s hardware or software product. The questions test the candidate’s understanding of the usage of DRM concepts, theories, techniques, and practices. The emphasis is on the application of knowledge to deal with real-world DRM concerns. The exam does contain questions specific to data approaches of a particular methodology or industry standard where noted in the outline.
  • Information Technology Management examination, designed to test the candidate’s knowledge of the theory and practice of management. Its emphasis is on the practices and standards required of senior Information Technology professionals engaged in the management and administration of systems-related activities. In general, the candidate will be tested for an understanding of the usage of managerial concepts and functions. The knowledge tested will be at the level expected of a systems professional who has held progressively more responsible positions during the minimum required period for eligibility, and who has supplemented this experience with reading and coursework. Many of the questions are designed to test for knowledge gained primarily through experience.
  • Systems Development examination, designed to test the candidate’s knowledge of the theory and practice of systems analysis, systems design, and systems implementation. It also tests the role of the systems professional within the enterprise. Knowledge is tested at a level of competency appropriate to senior IS professionals. In general, the candidate will be tested for an understanding of the usage of information systems development and implementation techniques and practices. Although the candidate is not required to have a prescribed number of years of relevant experience to take this exam, many of the questions are designed to test for knowledge gained through experience.

Two New Beta Tests - Free!

"The ICCP is continuously assessing its complement of examinations and working at keeping its examinations current. In that context two new examinations Web Development and Information Systems CORE (ISCORE) are being made available for Beta testing at various conferences for professionals and students throughout 2003.

The two examinations can be taken for free at the DAMA International Symposium / Wilshire Meta Data Conference, and if you pass the examination, you can then submit it towards either the ACP (requires two examinations, passed at the 50% or more level) or the CCP (requires three examinations, passed at the 70% or more level) at a cost of $79 per examination. Normal pricing is $195 per examination. If any single examination is passed at the 70% or more level the ICCP would award an Expert Proficiency certificate."

For the Proficiency Certificate: Candidates must pass the Data Resource Management Exam (or another choice of specialty exam) at the 70% level.

All candidates will receive a detailed performance profile. If they pass over the 50% level, they will get a performance profile. The performance profile details how well they did on what sections. It is a great tool for identifying strengths and weaknesses.
