Schema Matching and Data Mapping Tools

Chito Jovellanos
President & CEO
forward look, inc.

Effective data integration and interoperability initiatives depend on effective schema matching and data mapping tools. The purpose of this SIG is to bring practitioners together to compare their real-world experiences with these technologies.

The session will begin with a survey of available tools from established and emerging vendors, academic research (previous and current), and overviews of in-house corporate initiatives. A moderated discussion will then follow, focusing on functionality, usability, operability and maintainability.

Corollary goals of this SIG are:

  • to establish a recurring forum for practitioners to meet and discuss issues and opportunities related to these tools
  • to identify a core group of committed peers who would be interested in co-authoring case-based "white papers" on schema matching and data mapping technologies.

Speaker Comment: This recurring SIG will hopefully initiate a thread for longer-term commitment from industry practioners. Moreover, the opportunity to be part of a working group and co-authoring "white papers" offers a career-enhancing option for participants.
